How Does Botox Work?

Botox and Jeuveau work by weakening the strength of muscle contraction related to lines of expression and wrinkles. The mechanism is by blocking the nerve impulse to the muscle resulting in muscle relaxation and flattening of the overlying skin. This can lead to a naturally appearing, well-rested, more youthful appearance.

Botox and Jeuveau can be used to treat the glabellar complex (between the brows/ “11s”), forehead lines, crow’s feet, bunny lines, lines around the lips, dimpling of the chin, to soften the pull on the corners of the mouth, for platysmal bands on the neck, and under the arms, palms, or feet for excessive sweating. Botox is also used to treat headaches, migraines, certain muscle spasms, TMJ, and more.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Juvederm is a collection of a wide range of hyaluronic acid fillers each designed for specific needs. They can lift, smooth, fill, soften, and plump. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body that primarily functions to hold on to moisture. Dermal fillers can be used to restore volume that has been lost with the aging process, fill in defects from acne or other scars, correct “smoker’s lines” around the mouth, enhance the lips and lip borders, help correct asymmetries in the face or lips, and more.
